It might seem odd to have instructions for burning a candle, but the correct burn can be the difference between a long lasting healthy candle and a tunnelling or quick burn candle.
Let it burn: The first burn is so important. The candle needs to burn until the melted wax covers the whole top of the candle, you shouldn’t see any solid wax on top. This could take up to three to four hours so make sure you have time to relax and enjoy your candle before you light it. The scent will increase with each subsequent burn and may take a few hours initially to really get going.
Trim those wicks . . but not too much! Trimmed wicks will also prevent the candle from producing soot and the vessel from becoming too hot. Don’t trim the wick too short or the wax will extinguish the flame, no one likes a sad candle!
Always re-centre the wick after each burn to avoid an uneven melt or glass becoming too hot on one side.
Never leave a burning candle unattended and always burn away from flammable material and open windows or draughts. Glasses and tins can become hot so wait until the candle has fully cooled before moving it. For more information refer to the product care & safety page.
